my fitness journey

I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I was pretty active as a kid - dance classes and hyperactivity constantly kept me moving. I started to really pack on the pounds around junior high, and my weight continued to escalate throughout high school. I dieted on and off - losing 15 pounds then gaining it all back plus more was my usual routine. I always wondered if the reason I didn't have many friends in junior high was because of my weight, or if my high school friends ever thought about ditching me because they didn't want to hang out with the fat girl anymore. Needless to say, I had a lot of self-esteem issues. Anyway, so that's my past. I still struggle with feelings of failure because of my weight from time to time, but not nearly as much or as badly as in the past. God is constantly refining, transforming, and retraining my mind to view myself as He views me - beautiful.

Now to the part where my journey towards fitness began. After my freshman year of college, I began a courting relationship with a wonderful man when I had reached my heaviest weight ever - 250 lbs. After we had dated for more than a year, he asked me to marry him on July 18, 2009. After seeing pictures of myself from that trip, I decided enough was enough - I was going to lose weight, and I had a great goal in mind! We set our wedding date for a little over 10 months from then. I started watching what I ate a little closer and lost a few pounds.

Then in mid-September, I joined Weight Watchers (for the fourth or fifth time) with an intense motivation to change my eating habits. I also added a beginning dance class to my semester so I would have two workouts a week that I couldn't skip. After my semester, I started adding exercise with at-home dvds and joined a gym. Here are a few pictures of me in the 6 months leading up to my wedding.

By the time the wedding came around, I had to buy a second dress because my first dress was too big to be altered to my size! It was a huge accomplishment - I went from a size 22 to a size 16! Here's me on my wedding day, 45 lbs lighter from when I started my weight loss journey less than a year before.

Since then, my weight loss journey has not stopped. I've been continuing with Weight Watchers and still do exercise dvds at home.

I still have about 40 lbs to go to reach my healthy goal weight, and I intend to carry on a lifestyle of fitness after that.
You should be all up to date now! Thanks for reading and looking at all the pictures of me shrinking.
